The book attempts comprehensive coverage of the three branches of economics-Public Finance, International Trade and Economics of Development, Growth and Planning. Part I of the book deals with Public Finance. Various topics of Public Finance have been covered without sacrificing simplicity and lucidity. Five major aspects of Public Finance-Taxation, Public Expenditure, Public Debt, Fiscal Policy, and Mobilisation of Resources-have been thoroughly discussed in this part of the book. Statistical Tables about Indian Public Finance have been included in almost every chapter. Part II includes two other branches of Economic Theory, namely, International Trade and Economics of Development and planning. First fourteen chapters of part II deal with pure and monetary theories of International Trade. The major aspects of International Trade-Comparative costs and Modern Theories, Terms of Trade, Foreign Exchange Theories, Protection vs. Free Trade, Balance of payments, Commercial Policy-have been discussed comprehensively and again without sacrificing simplicity and lucidity. The last six chapters focus on Economic Development and and Planning. Various development issues with regard to developing countries have been incorporated in these chapters. Problems of Mixed Economy and various issues of Economic Planning have been analysed.
