Summary: It is not usual for an author to introduce his own work. Author am doing so in this case only because author taken aback at the thought that these radio talks should now take the solemn form of publication in a book. Author do not think them suitable for that purpose and author should myself have been con tent that they should drift away on the air to which they were first committed. But my friends and publishers, Messrs. Martin Secker and Warburg, thought otherwise, though it is fair to them to say that they formed their resolution before they saw any of the scripts, and author hope therefore that nothing that author am now saying will injure the prospects of what they have so courageously undertaken.
