Summary: This publication - A Global View of the Environment: Two Years After Rio is a retrospective on the outcome of this international meet in the context of current aid, trade and debt relations. Today, clearly we have less flexibility on environmental programmes, as our primary goal is rapid industrialization and promoting an export-driven economy. However, we do see the importance of raising some of the fundamental global environmental problems in community education programmes in countries like India. We also see the importance of driving the various interests of the large, poor agrarian populations in the international environment debate in general. With this in mind we hope that this publication inspires more collaboration and contact between NGOs in India and among NGOs in other Asian regions around common global environment concerns.

This publication - A Global View of the Environment: Two Years After Rio is a retrospective on the outcome of this international meet in the context of current aid, trade and debt relations.
