Summary: This seems particularly true in the case of our own civilization. In spite of all our tremendous scientific and technological advances the human lot on this planet does not seem to be in, general very much better than it was thousands of years ago, It is not only a question of the unequal distribution of benefits derived from modern technology which permits the greater part of the world population to live at starvartion level while other nearly choke themselves with an over abundance of goods.
