Summary: The Marxist writer Philip Bonosky visited Afghanistan several times in the 1980's while a reporter for the Daily World. Bonosky shows the history of relations between the Soviet Union and Afghanistan showing that the Soviet Union had lived by Afghanistan peacefully for years and had only sent in troops at the request of the Afghan government.
