Fiscal Policy can play an important role in dealing with the problem of poverty in India. The tax instrument for example can be of considerable help in dealing with the problem of poverty by raising resources which can be used for implementing programmes designed to help the poor in augmenting their incomes, by inducing higher rates of growth and by promoting higher levels of employment. The Government expenditure instrument can also play an important role in attacking poverty.
What has the fiscal policy actually achieved? Who bears the tax burden? Who gains from Government Expenditure in India? These and many other important questions are systematically dealt with in this book.
