520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Although this book bears my name, it would not have been possible with out the tireless work of many people: the countless immigrants, activists, scholars, and organizations that struggle on a daily basis for human rights and social justice.<br/>Author owe a great debt to several in particular: Jamin Raskin, whose land mark scholarship and personal encouragement inspired my work and also nourished activists across the country to launch campaigns for immigrant voting; J. Philip Thompson and the folks at the Aspen Institute Roundtable on Community Change, who fostered my interest in this research and the ongoing project of attacking racism and building community; Michele Wucker, whose collaborative work-particularly on the Immigrant Voting Project-helped put this subject on the virtual map; the many advocates that led campaigns for immigrant voting rights, including Kathy Coll, Mario Cristaldo, Joyce Hamilton, Bryan Pu-Folkes, and Tom Perez, which the Center for Voting and Democracy brought together a few years ago in Washington D.C. and gave a timely boost to their respective campaigns; Demos, which did the same thing the following year at the Graduate Cen ter of the City University of New York (CUNY), which especially helped the campaign in New York City, ably led by Cheryl Wertz and the amazing individuals and member organizations that comprise the Coalition to Expand Voting Rights; David Chiu, Matt Gonzalez and all the people involved in the historic effort in San Francisco, which put immigrant vot ing back on the map in California and nationally; and to the many other advocates who have championed immigrant voting rights in dozens of cit ies and towns across the U.S. during the past twenty years.
