| Summary, etc. | This study was conceived as a follow-up to research on the costs and benefits of an insurance scheme to provide food security for developing countries. A food financing facility would provide funds to a developing country to help it pay for cereal imports in years when costs are relatively high because of poor crops or high international market prices.<br/>The Study's objective was to consider the merits and probable effect of alternative designs for a food financing facility and to assess the one finally adopted by the International Monetary fund (IMF) in May 1981. |
